Mylene Brooks
Mylene Brooks serves as Special Employment Counsel to the Labor & Employment Law Department in Los Angeles.
Mylene has more than 14 years of experience dedicated to litigating and advising employers in the area of employment law and represents employers in all facets of labor and employment law, including hiring practices, equal employment opportunity issues, wrongful termination and fair employment practice litigation, issues relating to wage and hour law, disability and accommodations, leaves of absence, compensation, company policies, discipline, layoffs, and terminations, with a focus on liability avoidance strategies.
In addition, Mylene has handled all aspects of administrative claims (e.g., EEOC, DFEH, DOL, and DLSE) from investigation through resolution, including hearings. She also has extensive litigation and arbitration experience in all levels of case management and strategy development, including investigations, discovery, substantive and procedural motions, and representing the client at mediation, settlement conferences and trial.
Mylene’s experience also includes transactional aspects of employment law, such as drafting employment policies, and drafting and negotiating employment agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, and separation and release agreements. In addition, she has prepared and presented numerous seminars to various employer groups, including senior-level management, regarding employment issues and legislative developments.
Prior to joining Proskauer, Mylene was Executive Counsel at The Walt Disney Company in the Corporate Legal Department, Litigation and Employment Practices, where she represented The Walt Disney Company and ABC, Inc., and their affiliated and subsidiary companies in all aspects of litigation, including employment, wage and hour, copyright and theft of idea, personal injury and contract disputes.
